15 February 2026 | Call for Papers: Potential for Nature-Based Solutions in Urban Green Infrastructure (2nd Edition)

The MDPI journal Land invites submissions to the Special Issue “Potential for Nature-Based Solutions in Urban Green Infrastructure (2nd Edition)”. Manuscripts may be submitted until 15 February 2026.

This Special Issue (section “Urban Contexts and Urban–Rural Interactions”) places ecological engineering—the synthesis of ecology and engineering—centre stage. Its focus is the sustainable design and management of human-influenced ecosystems, using nature-based solutions (NbS) as key instruments. Emphasis is placed on material-cycle approaches with low losses and minimal technical energy input, multifunctional uses, integration across spatial scales, and the creation of connected yet decentralised and redundant structures—to develop coherent green and blue infrastructure networks in urban and rural areas. The Special Issue addresses societal challenges including climate, water and food security, as well as health and disaster risks.

Topics include (selection):

  • Settlement ecosystems and urban green infrastructure
  • Multifunctional NbS components
  • Urban biodiversity strategies and measures
  • Sustainable landscape development in rural areas
  • Circular green–blue systems
  • Land recycling and transformation
